Its winter and walking though the empty streets of Archachon not a single soul in sight. I finally arrive to the shore, where I find a carousel. It's standing still, as are the boats in the bay. They seem to be waiting for the summer to arrive. Many houses have their windows completely shut. It feels like a ghost town, reminiscent of better times. Just before leaving I went to what seems to be the only open restaurant. The whole town was gathered there, in a kind of celebratory hibernation, now that half of the winter was already through.
